Ahead of the crucial 2024 general elections, he strategically reflected on the party’s narrow loss in 2020, where the NDC fell short by just 2,000 votes. Determined to reverse this outcome, he led the constituency executive team to mobilize resources and implement effective strategies. These efforts resulted in the registration of nearly 8,000 new voters during the first registration window, significantly boosting the party’s performance and securing victory in six out of eleven electoral areas during the District Assembly elections.
Despite challenges, including alleged intimidation and obstacles during the limited voter registration exercise, Chairman Mohammed remained resolute. Under his leadership, the constituency successfully registered over 3,000 additional voters—an effort he personally monitored daily until completion.
During the 2024 campaign season, Chairman Mohammed inspired party members and supporters across the length and breadth of Tema West to remain focused and energized. At the same time, the constituency executive team put in place strong mechanisms to safeguard votes.
His bold pledge to lead the NDC to victory in Tema West—a constituency long dominated by the NPP for 28 years—has now been fulfilled.
A Historic Win
Through the collective determination of the leadership and grassroots supporters, the NDC has decisively ended the NPP’s long-standing dominance in Tema West. The party secured a convincing victory, with 21,278 votes (62.96%) for the presidential candidate, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, and 21,607 votes (64.06%) for the parliamentary candidate, Hon. Lawyer James Enu.
This unprecedented achievement stands as a testament to the persuasive and strategic leadership of Chairman Mohammed Issah.
