Saglemi to Become Major Industrial and Residential Growth Corridor – President Mahama

SAGLEMI, Ghana, 20th August: President John Dramani Mahama has projected that the Saglemi area will emerge as a major industrial and residential growth corridor as government accelerates investment in roads, railways, housing and other supporting infrastructure.

According to the President, several major developments taking place along the corridor will significantly transform the area and create new opportunities for businesses and residents.

Speaking during an inspection of the Saglemi Affordable Housing Project, President Mahama said the location of the estate placed it at the centre of an emerging economic zone stretching towards Tema and the Dawa Industrial Park.

“This area is therefore evolving into a major industrial and residential growth corridor,” he said.

President Mahama said the ongoing dualisation of the road from the area towards Aflao would provide residents with faster and more efficient access to other parts of the country.

He disclosed that the first phase of the road project was already under construction, while the second phase from Central University was being awarded.

The President also highlighted plans for a railway connection that would transport both passengers and cargo.

According to him, containers and industrial goods from the Tema Port would be transported directly by rail to the industrial park, strengthening the area’s connection to Ghana’s major commercial and industrial centres.

He further disclosed that surplus water from the treatment facility serving the Dawa Industrial Park would be supplied to the Saglemi estate, with additional excess water transmitted to the Tema Industrial Area.

President Mahama said these investments would complement the housing development and ensure that Saglemi grows into a properly serviced community.

The President said Saglemi also fits into government’s broader Green Digital City concept, which is expected to create a new urban growth zone stretching from the corridor through Bundase and the former military firing range towards the Volta Lake.

He said the combination of residential, industrial and transport infrastructure would position the area as an important growth centre for Ghana.
