Roads are in a very deplorable state in the Bono region —Williams Okofo-Dateh

The people in the Bono region have not benefited from the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagship program, the “Year of Roads” project. Launched with the vision to enhance major roads throughout the country, it appears to have overlooked the needs of the Bono region’s residents.

During an interview on Adekyee Mu Nsem morning show on Ahotor FM 92.3, hosted by Citizen Kofi Owusu in Accra, Hon. Williams Okofo-Dateh, the Member of Parliament for Jaman South, expressed concern about the deplorable state of roads in the region. He emphasized how this condition is adversely affecting business activities, hindering the transportation of goods from farming areas to market centers.

Addressing the issue of energy and consistent electricity supply, Okofo-Dateh pointed out that his constituents in the Bono region are experiencing severe “Dumsor,” expressing worry over how the government has allowed the country to plunge back into darkness. He lamented that a problem that was seemingly resolved during the tenure of former President John Dramani Mahama has now resurfaced, describing it as unfortunate.

Expressing further disappointment, Okofo-Dateh criticized the NPP government for its failure to plan and implement a load-shedding power timetable. This oversight, he argued, has tarnished the image of the country, particularly during the ongoing Africa Games international tournament. He emphasized that this power crisis has affected the country’s reputation as the star of Africa.

Okofo-Dateh called on the government to address the power situation promptly and keep the nation informed. He questioned the reasons behind the government’s reluctance to provide the public with updates on the challenges confronting the energy sector, especially at a time when 24-hour power supply is elusive for both domestic and industrial sectors.

The MP also took a moment to mourn the loss of his colleague in parliament, the late John Kumah, describing it as a great loss to the country and the NPP fraternity. He expressed sadness at the untimely passing of a promising young politician who had much to contribute to the country as the Member of Parliament for Ejisu.
