President Mahama Inspects Chuchuliga-Sandema Road, Targets 2028 Completion + {AUDIO👇}

President John Dramani Mahama has expressed optimism that the road network linking Bolgatanga to Wa will be fully completed by 2028, paving the way for safer, smoother and more reliable travel between the Upper East and Upper West regional capitals.

President Mahama made the statement on Thursday, August 13, 2026, when he inspected ongoing works on the Chuchuliga-Sandema Road as part of his #ResettingGhana Tour of the Upper East Region.

He said the government’s broader vision was to establish a reliable road network connecting all regional capitals, while expanding the scope of road development to cover other strategically important routes across the country.

β€œOur intention is to link all the regional capitals to each other with good roads, and we are also scoping a second phase of roads,” President Mahama said.

The government, through the Ministry of Roads and Highways and the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA), is currently undertaking the partial reconstruction of the Navrongo-Chuchuliga-Tumu Road, covering approximately 34.23 kilometres.

The project also includes the partial reconstruction of the Navrongo-Chuchuliga-Sandema Road, covering an additional 16 kilometres.

The works form part of the government’s Big Push Initiative and National Infrastructure Development Programme, which seek to address critical infrastructure gaps, improve connectivity and create the conditions for accelerated economic development.

The project is being financed by the Government of Ghana, with Myturn Limited serving as the contractor. The Ghana Highway Authority, under the leadership of its Chief Executive, is responsible for the engineering and supervision of the works.

Once completed, the road network is expected to significantly improve transportation between communities in the Upper East and Upper West regions, facilitate the movement of people and goods, reduce travel difficulties and enhance economic activity along the corridor.

President Mahama’s inspection of the project forms part of his ongoing assessment of major infrastructure projects under the Resetting Ghana Agenda, with a focus on accelerating the completion of critical roads and other development projects across the country.
