NSA Inaugurates Five-Member Resource Mobilisation and Partnership Committee to Drive Sustainable Funding

The National Sports Authority has taken a decisive step in advancing the broader transformation of Ghanaian sports by formally launching a five-member Resource Mobilization and Partnership Committee, a specialized body charged with generating sustainable funds and forging strategic alliances to drive sports development and fully operationalize the Sports Reset Agenda.

This inauguration, held at the ESP Hotel Conference Room in Accra on Friday, August 14, 2026, under the guiding theme of supporting the Reset Ghana Sports Agenda, marks a concrete move away from over-reliance on traditional government allocations toward a more diversified, innovative, and self-sustaining financing model capable of addressing the escalating demands of modern sports infrastructure, athlete preparation, youth empowerment, and international competitiveness.

The committee was constituted following a resolution adopted by the NSA Governing Board during its Second Quarterly Session on June 12, 2026, reflecting a deliberate institutional commitment to translate the overarching Reset and Transformation Agenda—aligned with the vision of President John Mahama—into practical action.

Chaired by Samson Deen, the accomplished President of the African Paralympic Committee and a respected figure in national and continental sports administration, the group includes Yaw Ampofo Ankrah as Co-Chairman, alongside Hajia Zenabu Sulemana, Alhaji Mutawakilu Iddrisu, and Mavis Ekua Enyamah Kwainoe, who also serves as Member and Secretary.

Their selection underscores the Governing Board’s confidence in their collective professional integrity, proven track records, and capacity for visionary leadership in navigating the complex landscape of sports financing.

At the ceremony, NSA Governing Board Chairman Professor Fred Awaah emphasized that conventional state funding alone can no longer suffice if Ghana is to achieve meaningful youth empowerment, construct and maintain modern sports facilities, and secure sustained excellence on the global stage.

He framed the inauguration not as a mere ceremonial event but as the tangible execution of the Reset Agenda, urging the new committee to treat its detailed terms of reference as an unwavering compass for aggressive outreach to partners, the establishment of long-term fiscal sustainability, and the embedding of absolute transparency in every aspect of resource management.

Professor Awaah charged the members to unlock high-value partnerships, diversify revenue streams, and ultimately help build a self-sustaining sports economy that reduces dependency on emergency or ad-hoc funding.

Samson Deen, in accepting the leadership role, articulated a clear philosophical shift: resource mobilization must evolve beyond simply soliciting donations or financial assistance into a structured system of strategic investment that systematically identifies, finances, develops, projects, and elevates Ghanaian talent to the podium. He stressed that the nation possesses abundant sporting potential yet lacks the robust systems required to nurture it comprehensively, and he called for a transition from reactive, last-minute fundraising to proactive, long-term planning.

The committee’s mandate encompasses mobilizing both financial and non-financial resources for all fifty-eight sports federations and associations, identifying critical equipment and logistical needs, establishing credible partnerships at local and international levels, contributing to the rehabilitation and sustainable management of sports infrastructure, and creating inclusive support pathways that ensure no Ghanaian talent goes unseen or unsupported.

Among the flagship initiatives the committee intends to advance is a proposed Constituency Games platform—a community-owned national talent discovery mechanism designed not merely as another competition but as an integral component of a broader, nationwide talent-development strategy that reaches into every corner of the country.

Parallel to this, the group will champion a $30 million National Sports Revival and Podium Investment Programme covering infrastructure upgrades, athlete preparation, coaching development, sports science, anti-doping measures, and grassroots programmes. Engagement will extend across government agencies, corporate Ghana, development partners, diplomatic missions, international sports organizations, media houses, philanthropists, and local communities, with a particular emphasis on inclusive approaches that support emerging athletes as diligently as established stars.
