“NPP Cannot Win Power Again Unless NDC Hands It Over” – Abraham Koomson

TEMA, Ghana, 7th May: The Secretary-General of the Ghana Federation of Labour, Abraham Koomson, has declared that the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) may struggle to win another election in Ghana unless the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) “gracefully hands power over to them.”

According to Mr. Koomson, many young supporters of the NDC are becoming increasingly disgruntled, and he urged the leadership of the governing party to move swiftly to address their concerns before the situation escalates.

Speaking on Ahotor FM’s Thursday Class programme on the Adekyee Mu Nsem morning show on Thursday, May 7, Mr. Koomson called on the NDC government to empower its grassroots supporters and establish strong structures that would create opportunities for party faithful and the youth.

He expressed concern that some individuals within the current administration appear more focused on enriching themselves after assuming office rather than supporting President John Dramani Mahama to achieve his development agenda for the country.

Mr. Koomson warned that such attitudes could create serious challenges for the party if not addressed early.

He further appealed to the Council of Elders of the NDC to step in and call government appointees to order, stressing that the mandate given to them by Ghanaians should remain their top priority.

According to him, internal wrangling and early conversations about who should succeed President Mahama after his tenure are premature and could undermine the unity and focus of the party.

He urged party leaders and appointees to concentrate on governance and delivering on promises made to the Ghanaian people instead of engaging in succession battles.
