Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak launches foundation to sustain support for five Kumasi constituencies

The Member of Parliament for Asawase and Minister for the Interior, Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has launched the Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak Foundation, also known as the 3-M Foundation, to provide sustained humanitarian support across five constituencies in the Greater Kumasi area.

The Foundation is designed to create a long-term funding mechanism to support interventions in healthcare, education and employment, ensuring that beneficiaries continue to receive assistance beyond the MP’s tenure in Parliament.

It is intended to institutionalise more than two decades of humanitarian work by the Asawase legislator and provide a sustainable framework for addressing the needs of vulnerable people in his constituency and beyond.

Why the foundation was created

Alhaji Muntaka said the task of supporting the less privileged cannot be shouldered by one person alone, which informed the decision to establish the Foundation.

The initiative will mobilise resources from the MP, individuals, businesses and development partners to support vulnerable people in health, education and livelihood empowerment.

According to the Asawase MP, the Foundation will also develop income-generating investments to secure funding and ensure the continuity of its interventions, regardless of changes in parliamentary representation.

Two decades of humanitarian work

The Foundation builds on 21 years of humanitarian interventions, particularly in healthcare.

Its work has included free medical screening, eye care, breast cancer awareness, financial support for patients requiring surgery, education scholarships, apprenticeship opportunities and support for small businesses.

In 2025, the initiative expanded its reach to 33 electoral areas across eight constituencies within Greater Kumasi.

During that period, it screened more than 11,000 people, funded 225 cataract surgeries, paid for 77 mammograms and supported five breast cancer surgeries.

Healthcare remains immediate priority

Healthcare is expected to be the Foundation’s immediate priority, with education and livelihood interventions expanded gradually as funding becomes available.

The initiative began with donations of eye drops from pharmaceutical companies and later expanded to include eye examinations, medical glasses, cataract surgeries, breast cancer screening and treatment support.

The Foundation plans to work with medical professionals, corporate institutions, educational facilities and other stakeholders to expand access to essential services.

Education and livelihood support

Beyond healthcare, the Foundation will support needy but brilliant students with school fees and provide apprenticeship opportunities through the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI).

It will also supply start-up equipment to trained artisans to help them establish their businesses, while providing soft and interest-free loans to small businesses and women’s groups.

The initiative has previously distributed desks, chairs and educational materials to schools in the Asawase Constituency.

Launch attended by stakeholders

The launch brought together party executives, traditional leaders and scores of residents who have benefited from the MP’s support over the years.

Many beneficiaries expressed appreciation for his continuous support and commitment to improving livelihoods.

The Foundation is operating under the theme, “Inspiring People, Touching Lives,” and is expected to provide a formal framework for partnerships that will expand access to healthcare, education and economic opportunities across Greater Kumasi.
