MP challenge govt. to prove his ten thousand kilometers of constructed roads

The Member of Parliament for Wassa East Constituency and also former Deputy Minister of Roads and highways, Hon Isaac Adjei Mensah has challenged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Government to provide proof to his more than 10,000kilometers of roads constructed.
Challenging the President Nana Akufo Addo’s claim in the budget read in parliament. The former Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways Hon. Isaac Adjei Mensah challenged the government through the minister of Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako Atta to prove it claim of constructing ten thousand kilometers of roads before parliament through validation.
Contractors have abandoned most roads under construction due to the lack of funds and these roads have since deteriorated, the government is not being truthful to Ghanaians, where the said ten thousand kilometers of roads have been constructed; while the president cannot point out a single road he started afresh and completed within his seven year period in office except the Kyebi town roads which were already existing they just did asphalt overlay” he said.
“The NPP misconstrued road maintenance as road construction which is not. Only 78,432km road has been validated; according to their record, where from the additional ten thousand kilometers” he quizzed.
The former Deputy Minister for Roads raised these concerns to Nana Kwaku Boffah, Ghanatodayonline.com Parliamentary correspondent and monitored by Ahotor FM news desk at parliament after finance minister read the 2024 budget.
Mr. Isaac Mensah accused the NPP Government for abandoning roads started under former president John Dramani Mahama regime to deteriorate.
“I’m expecting the finance minister Ken Ofori Atta to show us the condition of our roads and it’s level of completion backed by evidence and validation”
