Let’s take eye care very seriously – Lion Francis Kojo Nutifafa

Akropong School for the Blind in the Eastern Region is facing a lot of challenges with respect to learning aids such as braids white cane and learning materials.

The school is lacking a lot of infrastructural deficit, which is affecting teaching and learning. It’s very unfortunate the school can only boast of four braids for a student population of 400 people.
The past president of Accra Ultimate Lions Club Lion Frank Kojo Nutifafa, said this on Adkyee Mu Nsem’s morning show on Ahotor FM 92.3 in Accra.

He discloses that October is eye awareness month for Lions Club all over the world. Where members organize public education to educate the public on how to protect and take good care of the eye.
The eye is an important organ of the body, and there is a need for all of us to protect our eyes at workplaces to discourage early blindness.

He further stated that the club has initiated a lot of infrastructural projects throughout the country through the donation of eye machines that help in examining the eyes in all our clinics and hospitals.
He urged the public to make conscious efforts to cultivate the culture of periodic visits to hospitals and clinics for eye care and examination.

He is of the view that there is going to be free eye screening in collaboration with Ahotor FM and other agencies to provide free eye care to the community.

Dr. Kodjo Abalo at the St. Lucy Eye Clinic at Lashibi said Ghana is among the countries with high cases of eye problems globally.

Eye cases such as glaucoma and cataracts are some of the major reported cases at the clinic and he believes there are a lot of treatments and simple surgery which can help to protect your eyes.
He therefore call on the general public to visit hospital and clinics to check their eyes periodically since the eye is very important to the body and we have to protect it.

Mrs. Rejoyce Lanquaye Ophthalmic Nurse of St. Lucy Eye Clinic, appeals to artisans to use protective goggles at work to protect the eye from direct explosive and hazardous things not to enter the eye.
She said the eye is a very delicate organ and there is a need to take good care of the eye.

She calls on the general public to cultivate the culture of visiting the hospital and eye clinics for period checks to keep the eye safe all the time.
