I would have retired COP Alex Mensah if I had the power – Yaw Asani Tano

National Organizer of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Yaw Asani Tano commenting on the leaked tape that to remove the IGP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare from office, said if he had the power, he would have retired Commissioner of Police (COP) Alexander George Mensah even if he had only two seconds left in the police service.
Speaking in an interview monitored by @Ahotoronline.com, Mr. Tano indicated that, if you see the demine and the bitterness in COP Alex Mensah, he fears for this country. He said Alex Mensah needs to be monitored carefully even in his retirement because he perceived him to be a very route for a coup.
According to him, General Ankrah was retired by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah because of incompetence but was one of the pivots around the coup that happened at that time and was made the head of state.
He said we should not think is only the military the like coup because the police are also interested in coup.
“They’re interested when there is this type of undercurrent who thinks the IGP is not correct because his actions do not favor them,” he said.
According to Mr. Tano, some comments of COP Alex Mensah at the parliamentary committee indicate some people in the service do not accept some reforms of the current IGP.
He said sometimes, it is very good to use an autocratic way to get the best results as the IGP is doing.
As a country, this is what we need and I will support any action from the IGP that will get personnel on their toes to work for the betterment of the country, he added.
