FC Nordsjælland has rewarded the rapid progress of 19-year-old Ghanaian centre-back Stephen Acquah by handing him a long-term contract extension that ties him to the Danish Superliga club until the summer of 2030, AhotorSports can confirm.

Stephen Acquah, a 19-year-old Ghanaian centre-back born on May 1, 2006, has established himself as a promising talent at FC Nordsjælland in the Danish Superliga.

Standing at 1.86m tall and right-footed, he primarily plays as a central defender but demonstrates versatility by covering the right-back position when needed, thanks to his exceptional speed, athleticism, technical ability, and composure on the ball.

His journey began at Ghana’s prestigious Right to Dream Academy, where he joined at age 10 and spent several years honing his skills before moving to Denmark.

In May 2024, Acquah signed an initial four-year contract with FC Nordsjælland, joining their U19 squad as part of the club’s renowned partnership with Right to Dream, which has previously produced stars like Mohammed Kudus and Kamaldeen Sulemana.

He quickly impressed in youth competitions, including strong performances in the Premier League International Cup and academy matches against top European sides such as Benfica, Dortmund, and Juventus.

These displays earned him regular involvement in first-team training and reserve games during the fall of 2024.

By February 2025, at age 18, Acquah received a permanent promotion to the senior squad, accompanied by a contract extension that now runs until December 31, 2029. Club officials praised his rapid development, with technical director Alexander Riget highlighting his progress and potential to contribute defensively while covering large areas and supporting build-up play.

Acquah himself expressed excitement about the move, noting how the familiar environment at Nordsjælland—filled with fellow Right to Dream graduates—made the transition seamless.

Since his promotion, Acquah has made gradual but impactful appearances for the first team, wearing shirt number 34. He debuted in league action and contributed notably in matches during the 2024/25 and early 2025/26 seasons, including an assist in a 5-2 victory over Randers FC in April 2025 and a dramatic late equalizer (scored just 40 seconds after coming on as a substitute) in a 2-2 draw against Brøndby IF in May 2025.

As of late 2025, he has featured in several Superliga games, often from the bench, accumulating minutes while showing defensive solidity and occasional attacking threat from set pieces or overlaps.

Represented by agency CAA Stellar, Acquah’s market value has risen steadily, reflecting his potential as one of European football’s exciting young defenders. FC Nordsjælland’s youth-focused model continues to provide him with opportunities to grow, positioning him as a player to watch in the coming years within the Superliga and potentially beyond.
