The MUSIGA Biennial Conference took an exciting turn when GHAMRO delivered a powerful solidarity message, urging the entire music industry to unite and embrace digital innovation.
Representing its Directors and Management, GHAMRO stressed that Ghana’s music industry can only grow through collaboration, not isolated efforts.
They emphasised that MUSIGA, GHAMRO, creators, regulators, and the media must work together to build a stronger ecosystem.
GHAMRO also announced major digital advancements, including partnerships with WIPO, CISAC, CAPASSO, and MLC to improve royalty tracking and ensure faster, more transparent payments.
These upgrades—such as WIPO Connect and the new GHAMRO Management System—promise to modernise rights documentation and boost global visibility for Ghanaian musicians.
One standout moment was GHAMRO’s reminder that “metadata is money.” They encouraged artists to secure essential identifiers like ISRC, IPI, ISNI, and ISWC, which make songs trackable and monetizable worldwide.
Addressing long-standing challenges, GHAMRO called out institutions that fail to pay royalties, stating boldly:
“You cannot demand creators’ welfare while refusing to pay for their work.”
They reaffirmed their commitment to working with MUSIGA to train musicians, improve digital literacy, and strengthen regulatory enforcement.
GHAMRO ended with a strong message of hope and unity—encouraging the industry to move from conflict to cooperation, and from potential to power.
Ghana’s music industry is stepping into a new digital era—bold, united, and ready for global impact.
