GFL Secretary General Expresses Confidence in Government’s Resetting Agenda – AUDIO!

TEMA, Ghana, 14 February: Secretary General of the Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL), Abraham Koomson, has expressed strong confidence in the government’s Resetting Agenda, stating that he believes the initiative will ultimately reposition the country for sustainable growth and development.

According to him, the Resetting Agenda being implemented by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration is a long-term process that requires patience from Ghanaians, noting that meaningful national transformation cannot happen overnight.

The “Resetting Ghana” Agenda, championed by President John Dramani Mahama for the 2024–2025 period, is presented as a comprehensive strategy aimed at restructuring Ghana’s economy, governance systems, and social attitudes after several years of economic difficulties. It is framed not merely as a set of policies, but as a national renewal effort intended to restore confidence in democratic institutions and public leadership.

Key governance reforms under the agenda include plans to reduce the size of government, impose stricter limits on borrowing, and establish an Independent Value for Money Office to strengthen accountability and combat corruption. The programme also proposes a forensic audit into the collapse of indigenous banks as part of broader financial sector reforms.

Speaking on Ahotor FM’s Yepe Ahunu programme on Saturday, February 14, Mr. Koomson noted that the Resetting Agenda goes beyond economic policies to address issues of mindset, attitudes, and national values. He stressed that promoting integrity, discipline, and patriotism among citizens is essential to achieving lasting national development.

He emphasised that early signs indicate the agenda is beginning to yield results and urged Ghanaians to remain patient and supportive of government efforts.

Mr. Koomson maintained that because the Resetting Agenda is a process rather than a single event, its full benefits will take time to materialise, but he expressed confidence that citizens will ultimately experience positive outcomes if the reforms are sustained.
