Final-Year Student Among Suspects After Teacher Beating Video Goes Viral

social studies teacher at Kade Senior High School, Michael Quason, has given a detailed account of how he was allegedly ambushed and assaulted by a group of students in an incident captured on a viral video.

According to him, the attack occurred on October 5, 2025, around 8:30 p.m. while he was returning home from town. He said a group of boys confronted him, claiming their brother had reported that the teacher slapped him during the final WASSCE CRS exam. Quason denied the claim, stating he did not know the student involved.

He said when he requested further explanation, the boys refused to engage and immediately began to assault him in the darkness. He was beaten continuously until he reached the gate of his house, where the noise attracted people inside. The boys fled upon seeing others come out.

Quason Further said he reported the incident to the Ghana Police Service and obtained a medical form. He said personal checks helped him identify one of the alleged attackers, who was later arrested and granted bail. Police reportedly pressed him to help identify the remaining suspects, but the arrested student initially claimed they were not from the area.

The release of the viral video changed the course of the investigation. Police asked Quason to identify the individuals in the footage, leading to the discovery that one of the alleged attackers is a final-year student and a member of his own class.
