Bawumia just exposed the NPP government; He is not fit to even be the NPP’s Presidential Candidate – Amenfi West MP

The Member of Parliament for the Amenfi West Constituency Eric Afful has taken a swipe at Vice President Dr. Bawumia saying he is not fit to be even the flagbearer of the NPP to think about the President.

Hon. Afful said the Vice President exposed his government with his inaugural public address after assuming leadership of the NPP.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has vowed to place a cap on government spending, ensuring it remains below 105% of the previous year’s tax revenue.

This move is part of his broader economic strategy, aiming for fiscal responsibility and sustainability.

Addressing a gathering of supporters in his address, the vice president emphasized the importance of prudent financial management to foster economic growth and stability.

Commenting on this on Ahotor FM’s morning show, the Amenfi West legislator said some of the policies mentioned by the Vice President contradict the policies implemented by his government.

According to him, the demand for road construction for instance is massive and this has historically placed a huge burden on the budget.

He, therefore, believes that the private sector should finance the construction and maintenance of roads through PPP concession arrangements.

Hon. Afful speaking on the roads project said the NPP has done little on road construction in the country, especially in his constituency Amenfi West which is a cocoa-growing area.

“Our biggest problem in Amenfi West is our roads, you know Amenfi West is a cocoa growing area but we can’t transport cocoa, my people are now suffering because the NPP government has decided to collapse the cocoa sector,” he said.
