Ghana is bankrupt, saddled with unsustainable debt with Bawumia as head of EMT – Kwakye Ofosu

Former Deputy Minister of Information, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has accused the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of failing as head of the Economic Management Team (EMT).

He observed that under Dr Bawumia’s leadership at the EMT, Ghana’s economy has sunk low with unsustainable debts.

The local currency, he added, has also lost its value against the major trading currencies.

In a post on his X platform, Mr Kwakye Ofosu said “It is beyond debate that under Bawumia’s utterly useless leadership of the EMT, Ghana is bankrupt, saddled with unsustainable debt on which we have defaulted, our currency has collapsed.

“Over a million bondholders including pensioners, have had their monies appropriated by the government because it cannot pay and we have high inflation which has led to the worst cost of living crisis.”

He added “It is also beyond debate that because of this horrible performance,he is almost certain to lose the 2024 elections for which reason, he has in a cowardly fashion, fled economic discourse and is claiming to be a mate.”
