TEMA, Ghana, 21 March: The Secretary-General of the Ghana Federation of Labour, Abraham Koomson, has raised serious concerns over the ongoing water crisis in Tema and its surrounding communities, describing the situation as a “major issue” that requires immediate government attention.
According to him, several parts of the country are currently experiencing significant water shortages, a development he says is both alarming and unacceptable given the importance of water to daily life and economic activity.
Mr. Koomson questioned whether the persistent challenges in water supply could be the result of deliberate actions aimed at undermining the image of the current administration.
Speaking on Ahotor FM’s Yepe Ahunu programme on Saturday, March 21, he stressed that based on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), officials responsible for ensuring a steady flow of water must be held accountable for the situation.
He argued that access to water is fundamental to human survival and urged the government to prioritise the issue, calling on those in charge of water delivery systems to “sit up” and deliver effectively.
Mr. Koomson further appealed to John Dramani Mahama to pay urgent attention to the crisis in Tema and its environs to prevent further hardship for residents.
While commending the President for his recent engagement with Organised Labour on Tuesday, March 17 an initiative aimed at strengthening dialogue and promoting transparency, Mr. Koomson emphasised that resolving the water crisis must be treated as a top priority.
He noted that addressing such critical challenges would reinforce public confidence in the government’s commitment to improving living conditions across the country.
