Are You Now Saying VEEP Bawumia Has No Influence? – Nana Ofori Queries NPP

Nana Ofori Owusu, National Chairman of the Progressive People’s Party, has slammed Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for promising to abolish E-Levy if voted into power.

The Vice President noted in his address at UPSA on Wednesday, February 7, that he will scrap the E-Levy under his tenure.

To move towards a cashless economy however, we have to encourage the population to use electronic channels payment. To accomplish this, there will be no taxes on digital payments under my administration. The e-levy will therefore, be abolished, he pledged.

Dr. Bawumia further touched on some areas he will amend in line with his vision to improving the lives of Ghanaians and one notable thing he established is National Service will no longer be mandatory under his reign.

Analyzing Bawumia’s vision during a media interview, Nana Ofori opined that the Vice President’s delivery was full of contradictions.

Expounding on the contradictions, he stated the claims by the New Patriotic Party that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, as Vice President, isn’t  in charge of running the State but rather plays a supporting role to President Nana Addo for which reason they implore Ghanaians to vote him into power is nothing but lies.

Vice President does not have power, at the same time, he is the best Vice President ever in the history of Ghana. Vice President did not agree with policies of this administration for which he is part and he is the Vice President and that he is going to turn claws of time when he becomes President meaning when the bad policies were being put in place for which he did not agree, he kept mute. So, he was silent; it is now that he is going to speak because he has power. I don’t think that augurs well, he argued.

To him, Dr. Bawumia cannot distance himself from what he described as bad governance by President Nana Addo neither can he be absolved from blame.

Are we now saying that the man with the great vision who came to sacrifice for his party didn’t have influence? He had no influence to be able to deter people from doing what we all knew was wrong?, he questioned.
