Black Princesses wins Gold at 13th African Games
The Black Princesses of Ghana were crowned champions in the 13th African Games to clinched the gold medal after historic victory against their arch rivals, the Super Falcons of Nigeria .
From the opening whistle, both teams displayed exceptional skill and determination, creating scoring opportunities and keeping spectators on the edge of their seats , the Super Falcons, known for their dominance in African women’s football, put up a fierce fight, but the Black Princesses proved to be a formidable opponent, matching their every move with precision and resilience.
The breakthrough came in the first half when the Super Falcons capitalized on a defensive error to take the lead through Edah Njideka in the 23rd, sending their supporters into a frenzy of excitement.
As the tension mounted in the second half, the Black Princesses intensified their offensive efforts and found the equalizer through Tracey Twum 77th minutes which made the game travelled to the extra time.
During the extra time, Black Princesses persistence paid off when they netted a crucial goal through the most experienced and humbled striker Mukarama Abdulai in the 98th minutes, edging ahead of their opponents and igniting jubilant celebrations among players and fans alike.
The final whistle marked a historic moment for the Black Princesses as they secured the gold medal, overcoming their longstanding rivals and affirming their status as a rising force in African women’s football.
