Chris Hughton apologies to Ghanaians for the humiliation from USA friendly game
The head coach of the Ghana Black Stars , Chris Hughton has rendered an unqualified apology to Ghanaians after been humiliated 4:0 by the Americans in a friendly encounter.
In the post match conference after the humiliating defeat, Coach Chris Hughton emphasized that he takes full responsibility of the results and performance of the team which led to the the heavy defeat.
“I think i am very conscious of what the games means in Ghana and for any performance we gave in and the scoreline, we are very sorry for the nation to have stayed late into the night. I think responsibilities of everything, i worked with a group of players and i determined the tactics i picked for the team ,so ‘SORRY’ is the apology which we are referring to , yes i apologies for the results and the performance in the first half period, the game is my responsibility to set things right.”
The defeat in this friendly game marked Ghana’s second loss in the international break, following a 0-2 loss to Mexico over the weekend. It also represented a setback for Chris Hughton, who had previously enjoyed an unbeaten run of five games as head coach.
Looking ahead, the Brazilian of Africa will regroup in November as they embark on the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup before preparing to compete in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast next January.
