Ghana football legend Asamoah Gyan affectionately called “baby jet ” is seemingly upset over Ghana’s disappointing campaign at the 2023 CAF Under 23 AFCON.
In an interview after the arrival of the team, the ex-general captain felt disappointed with the result and vented his spleen at some individuals in the team whom he believes played somewhat selfishly.
“What I saw in this Black Meteors team is some players think they are bigger than the whole team. Small hype and fame? Modern football is not about only what you do with the ball. It’s about what you do without the ball. I see players thinking they can play alone. It’s about time we wake up and defend when we lose the ball.”
“I hate such an attitude where some players feel superior to their colleagues. I was in the black stars when I was invited to come and play the black meteors even to the extent of buying my tickets just because I want the team to qualify,” – he added
The Black Meteors were eliminated at the group stage of the competition that is taking place in Morocco following a 1-1 draw with Guinea.
Asamoah Gyan represented Ghana at the Under 23 level with his brother Baffour at the 2004 Olympic Games held in Athens, Greece. Since the 20004 Games, Ghana has failed to qualify to participate in the football event at the Olympics.
