Adorye Credits Mahama for ‘Total Economic Stability’ Ahead of SONA

The Director of Operations for the United Party, Hopeson Adorye, has asserted that the true health of any economy is determined by the strength of its macroeconomic indicators.

According to him, when key macroeconomic variables reflect stability, it is clear evidence that the economy is on firm ground. He argued that macroeconomic performance remains the most reliable benchmark for assessing whether a country is progressing or declining.

Mr. Adorye criticised the economic management of the New Patriotic Party under former President Nana Akufo-Addo, describing the period as one marked by poor handling of the economy.

He maintained, however, that one year into the administration of President John Dramani Mahama, there is what he described as “total stability” in the economy — a development he insists cannot be disputed.

While commending the current stability, Mr. Adorye emphasised the need for tangible economic growth in the coming years. He said Ghanaians should move beyond merely hearing about “laying solid foundations” and begin to witness the visible superstructure of a thriving economy.

“We should not only speak about foundations,” he implied, “but point to clear results and say this is a beautiful, functioning economy.”

His comments come ahead of the State of the Nation Address (SONA), scheduled to be delivered by President Mahama on Friday, February 27, 2026.
