Dreams FC prodigy Abdul Aziz Issah has completed a permanent transfer to FC Barcelona from Dreams FC following consecutive loan spells at the Catalan club. The 20-year-old Ghanaian, born on 20 November 2005 in Accra, has signed a two-year contract that keeps him at the club until 30 June 2028, with the Spanish giants also holding an option to extend the deal by a further year.
Issah, a left-footed forward who primarily operates as a right winger but can also feature on the left or in attacking midfield, stands at approximately 1.63 metres tall. He rose through the youth ranks at Dreams FC, progressing via the club’s associated setups Still Believe and In God We Trust before earning promotion to the senior side in 2022. His breakthrough came during the 2022–23 season, when he scored the opening goal in the Ghana FA Cup final as Dreams secured a 2–0 victory over King Faisal Babes, claiming the club’s first major trophy and qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup. He later earned the Ghana FA Cup Discovery of the Season award for his contributions.
The following campaign elevated his profile further. In the 2023–24 CAF Confederation Cup, Issah finished as joint-top scorer with four goals and two assists across ten matches, helping Dreams FC reach the semi-finals in their debut appearance in the competition. One of his standout moments was a spectacular long-range strike against Académica do Lobito. Domestically he continued to impress, netting seven league goals in 24 appearances while adding further goals in the FA Cup. These displays earned him nominations for CAF Young Player of the Year and Interclub Player of the Year, as well as individual recognition including the SWAG Prospect of the Year and Footballer of the Year awards in Ghana. Internationally he contributed to Ghana’s under-20 side winning gold at the 2024 African Games and has since earned senior Black Stars caps.
Barcelona first secured Issah’s services on loan from Dreams FC in September 2024 for a reported fee of around €1 million, assigning him to Barça Atlètic with an option to buy. His initial 2024–25 campaign brought limited opportunities, with only a handful of appearances. The loan was extended for 2025–26, during which he flourished under coach Juliano Belletti, making 20 appearances, scoring four goals and providing one assist in the Segunda Federación. Strong form in the closing stages of the season, including contributions in the final matches, convinced the club to convert the arrangement into a permanent transfer.
The official announcement came on 27 July 2026 after Issah completed medical examinations and signed in the presence of José Ramón Alexanko, director of FC Barcelona’s formative football. Dreams FC confirmed the permanent transfer, noting that the talented winger who came through all age-group ranks at the club had agreed a two-plus-one-year deal. Issah has already rejoined training with Barça Atlètic, where he is expected to continue his development, although club president Joan Laporta has indicated involvement in the first-team environment and a possible loan to a higher level remains under consideration to accelerate his progress. This permanent move marks the culmination of his journey from Ghanaian prodigy to a contracted member of one of world football’s most prestigious organisations, providing stability as he aims to establish himself further in Catalonia.
