Black Stars head coach Otto Addo recently traveled to France to personally visit injured defender Mohammed Salisu, providing much-needed support and encouragement during what is undoubtedly a challenging period in the player’s career.
This follows a similar checks on Ernest Nuamah who is recovering from ACL injury in Lyon
The visit came shortly after Salisu underwent successful surgery to repair an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear in his left knee, an injury he sustained in the closing moments of AS Monaco’s Ligue 1 match against Olympique Lyonnais earlier this month.
The Ghana Football Association highlighted that Addo’s gesture was aimed at lifting the spirits of the key centre-back, who has been a reliable presence in the national team setup, featuring prominently in recent 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers where he even contributed goals.
Known for his hands-on approach to player welfare, Otto Addo has made similar trips to check on other injured Black Stars players in the past, demonstrating his commitment to fostering unity and morale within the squad ahead of major tournaments like the upcoming World Cup.
This personal touch from the coach underscores the importance placed on Salisu’s recovery journey, as the 26-year-old now faces a lengthy rehabilitation process typically lasting eight to nine months before he can return to competitive action.
Fans and teammates alike will be hoping for a strong comeback for the Monaco defender, whose physicality and leadership at the back have become vital for Ghana’s defensive line.
