The Ghana Bar Association is urging President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo to uphold his commitment to preventing corruption within his administration.
The Association noted that recent corruption reports contradict his intentions.
The president is on records to have said that, “those coming into his administration thinking that there is an avenue for them to make a lot of money are going to be disappointed, they better go to the private sector because that is where people make a lot of money not in the public”.
At the 2023 Annual Bar Conference in Accra, the president was taken to task to fight corruption.
According to the president of GBA, Yaw Acheampong Boafo, Nana Addo gave hope to Ghanaians with his promise for emergence of new politics but the current situation of corruption of involving government appointees leaves a lot to be designed.
He said it’s very bad on the side of government to defend its officials who have been caught in the act.
Mr Boafo called on his partisan colleagues to stop attacking the judiciary and the and the legal profession.
According to him, the GBA under his administration is not under any appendage to political party.
