Security expert with the Center for Security, Dialogue and Peace Advocacy Anthony Aquaye says the professionalism of crowd control in demonstrations in Ghana is quite disturbing and is associated with citizens’ brutality.
He said about 150 persons only have specialized training in crowd and riot control
According to him, persons from the Force Police Unit (FPU) are professionals in riot and crowd control but since they are adequate, there is a need for police from other units who do not have professional training to help them resolve problems ending up causing a lot of harm at such exercise.
According to him, it would be appropriate if FPU could independently manage the riot crowd alone, in such instances.
