(LISTEN): LA Dadekotopon MP joins residents to demonstrate over stalled General Hospital project

Member of Parliament for the La Dadekotopon Constituency in the Greater Accra Region Rita Naa Odoley Sowah today joined residents of LA and its environs to demonstrate over the reconstruction of the La General Hospital in the area.

The La General Hospital which was demolished by the government to make way for the planned rehabilitation to improve healthcare delivery in the area has been abandoned for over 2 years.

Speaking on Ahotor 92.3 Fm‘s midday News, Hon. Odoley Sowah said she joined the demonstration becuase she has the La General Hospital at heart.

“The La General Hospital is on my heart and I have raised alot of questions about it in Parliament but the Minister wasn’t truthful about it”.
“People are dying in La as they can’t access health care so I can’t sit down if people are demonstrating over it, I have to join” She told our reporter Freeman Blay.

Some residents seconded the claim by the La Dadekotopon legislator that access to immediate health care has been a major challenge for them due to the demolition of the facility.

Hon. Rita Naa Odoley Sowah called out the Akufo-Addo administration for deceiving the people of La.

“I am very angry at the government, NPP, Nana Addo and his Health Minister. They demolished the La General Hospital and promised the people of La Dade Kotopon that they will reconstruct it in two years. As we speak, when you go there nothing has happened.”

She expressed worries as delegates from the National Security received their petition on behalf of the Health Ministry she described it as strange.
