Ghanaian screen legend Pascaline Edwards has finally shed light on one of the biggest misconceptions that trailed her throughout her early movie career. In a newly trending interview, the actress peeled back years of silence to reveal the emotional battles she fought behind the glamour.
Long before she became one of the most recognisable faces on Ghanaian screens, Pascaline was juggling a complicated life—one she chose not to publicise. While audiences admired her bold movie roles and confident presence, she was privately carrying a weight few knew about.
For years, rumours spread that Pascaline had no interest in becoming a mother. She became the subject of whispers, mockery, and unfair judgments—both from people within the creative space and from outsiders who believed they knew her story.
But, according to Pascaline, the truth was completely different.
She revealed that she actually had a baby at home—just six months old—before she even stepped onto a movie set. Her choice to keep that part of her life away from the spotlight was not because she disliked children, but because she was navigating intense pressure at home.
As the oldest sibling, Pascaline had taken on the role of caretaker for four younger brothers and sisters, in a household where their parents were not present. She was the breadwinner, the protector, and the head of the family. Raising her siblings and building a stable foundation for them became her first mission.
Her silence, however, allowed false narratives to spread. She recalled how some people mocked her fashion style, claiming she cared more about jewellery and clothing than starting a family. The constant gossip was so harsh that she often broke down in tears when she returned home.
Yet, even in those difficult moments, she kept moving. She said her older brother helped her build emotional strength and taught her how to rise above the noise.
“I’ve always loved looking good,” she explained. “But people twisted it to mean I didn’t want children. Meanwhile, I was taking care of four kids at home. My goal was to build something solid for my siblings so they wouldn’t struggle.”
Pascaline said that while she appeared tough and unbothered on camera, the criticism deeply affected her behind the scenes.
Today, her story is inspiring many—showing that behind the bright lights of the movie industry, actors often face real struggles, real responsibilities, and real pain that the audience never gets to see.
