ECG assures technical challenges with prepaid metering payments being fixed

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) says its engineers are working around the clock to fix technical challenges affecting its metering system nationwide to restore payments for top-up power credit.

The difficulty which has persisted for the past four days is affecting customers in 10 operational regional areas.

These are in Volta, Kumasi, Accra, Takoradi, Tema, Cape Coast, Kasoa, Winneba, Swedru, Koforidua, Nkawkaw, and Tafo.

According to ECG’s General Manager in charge of External Communications, Nii Ayiku Ayiku, some o the faults detected on Monday have been fixed but all systems are not yet complete.
‘Some of the systems were not able to respond. It is not all our customers that are experiencing this challenge,” he however explained.

A related statement issued by theAshanti SBU gave similar assurances…“Affected customers should please note that our engineers are working assiduously to correct the anomaly and restore the system to normalcy.”

ECH has for the past few months been suffering similar technical challenges with its metering system

In May this year, customers in Tema raised similar challenges and ECG explained that the problem was traced to one of its smart pre-payment (Niru) systems
