The Assembly Member for Etwereso Electoral area in the Akyemansa district of the Eastern Region, Offei Kingsley has appealed to government to create job opportunities for the youth to reduce teenage pregnancies among the girls.
He said, most teenage pregnancies at Etwereso and its environs are the result of “Okada” operators who lure girls to bed with money as most of them are from poor backgrounds.
“He said, poverty rate has contributed to the teenage pregnancy in Etwereso, therefore has appealed to the government to create job opportunities for the youths.
Adding that, absence of jobs makes it difficult for young girls to be independent and make a living in order to buy their basic needs.
The unit committee chairman, Mr. Kofi Appiah was rather concerned over the poor road network, appealed to the government, member of parliament, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and the district chief executive (DCE) Hon. Paul Asamoah to lobby and fix the deplorable roads in Akyemansa areas.
He said the roads in Etwereso had been in a continuous state of deterioration for many years and it is affecting health and economic growth.
The roads had developed deep gullies with the main Etwereso to Ayirebi, Kwaboadi, Asabedie and other communities
He indicated that, the Omanhene of Etwereso, Daasebre Kwabi Ofosu Ayebiahwe has made available 50 acres of stool land to construct ultra-modern 80 beds capacity hospital earmarked district hospital worth 1.5 million dollars which 14,400 blocks were moulded awaiting sod cutting to commence the project.
Daasebre Kwabi Ayebiahwe has decried the sad reality where Etwereso and its surroundings communities relying on the less equipped health centre over the years.
According to him, it is, therefore proper that he developes Etwereso and Odauman.
He assured the good people of Odauman, hopefully will create job opportunities to reduce the burden of unemployment in the area.
