C/R: First Year SHS Students to Pay GH¢700 before accommodated

Authorities of the Cape Coast University Practice Senior High School (UPSS)  has informed first year students to pay GH¢ 700 before they are provided with accommodation in the school.

According to the parents, they chose the school because it is a boarding school and they are surprise the school authority cannot provide their wards with rooms for the first year.

“We are appealing to government to review the free SHS policy to favour all, how can some children enjoy free SHS with accommodation and others pay, some of us cannot afford to pay the accommodation, we are weary of this stress”, some angry parents stated.

In an explanation by school authority, they made it known to parents that the school can accommodate only 100 students into the boarding house, 80 girls and 20 boys and any addition will have to pay for the accommodation.
