Ghana forward Andre Ayew has dismissed talk of retirement, insisting he still feels physically capable of competing at the highest level.
The former Black Stars captain recently returned to club football with Dutch side NAC Breda, signing a short-term deal until the end of the season after departing Le Havre last campaign.
Despite speculation surrounding his future, the 36-year-old remains focused on extending his playing career. Ayew, Ghana’s most-capped player, last featured for the national team at the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Speaking to ESPN, Ayew made it clear that retirement is not currently on his mind.
“I never thought about it because my body is good, I feel good. I live my life day to day, so I prepare myself every time to have a better tomorrow on the field and off the field,” he said.
“I don’t think about that. When the moment comes, your body will tell you,” he added.
Since joining NAC Breda, Ayew has made six league appearances, earning one start as he steadily rebuilds full match fitness and rhythm.
