Fishing Community submerged in Ketu South

Blekusu, a fishing community in the Ketu South municipality of Volta region has been submerged by sea water on Sunday.

Strong tides from the sea broke banks in the early hours of Sunday, flooding homes and displaying hundreds of residents in the community situated between the sea and lagoon.

The flood waters also took over the main road connecting Denu and Keta for several hours.

The residents, mostly fisherfolks were seen salvaging their belongings through the flood to safety.

Local officials of the National Disaster Management Organization and the Ketu South MCE have arrived in the community to assess the situation.
