DCE nominee for Abura Asebu Kwamankese rejected

Assembly members in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese District of the Central Region have voted to reject Ms Aba Hagan as their District Chief Executive.

A total of 25 members voted for her rejection while one vote was counted as rejected by the Electoral Commission. The apparent disappointed Ms Hagan polled only 17 of the total 43 votes cast by the assembly members Friday morning, TV3’s Thomas Cann reported.

Per the local government law, she is required to get two thirds of the vote cast to be confirmed as the District Chief Executive of the Abura Asebu Kwamankese District.

A second round of voting by the Assembly members is expected in 10 days. Central Regional Minister, kwamina Duncun, who witnessed Friday’s confirmation election exercise supervised by the Electoral Commission expressed disappointment and urged the Assembly members to come to a consensus to approve the nominee to ensure development for the district.
