A former deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Joseph Yamin, is urging delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) not to vote for Madam Betty Mould Iddrisu as Chairperson for the umbrella family.
Betty Mould as she is affectionately called, according to Yamin, will be the worst chairperson ever to lead the Akatamansonians going into the 2020 general elections.
He believes that Betty Mould in her present capacity as First Vice National Chairperson of the NDC has done too little to increase the fortunes of the Akatamansonians and therefore, does not deserve to be given even 20 votes when the delegates gather on October 20, 2018, to elect their national executives for the party.
Interacting with Accra-based Okay FM, Wednesday, September 5, 2018, Yamin said a vote for Betty Mould Iddrisu will spell doom for the NDC as far as the 2020 general elections are concerned.
“Betty Mould will be the worst person to ever be a national chairman. I will go all out and speak to the delegates and support my claims with evidence that if the delegates mistakenly vote for Betty Mould Iddrisu, it means the NDC is not ready for elections 2020. I will be telling the story and support it with evidence that even if Betty Mould Iddrisu gets 20 votes, then I am not sure NDC is ready for elections 2020”, he noted.
Betty Mould, according to Yamin, openly campaigned against his candidature leading to his lost in Saturday’s Ashanti Regional NDC Chairmanship race, and therefore, will also go all out to tell delegates why a vote for the First Vice National Chairperson will be worst for the NDC.
He said if he had won the regional chairmanship race, he would have been restricted to openly declare his support for any of the candidates seeking to lead the NDC.
However, in his present capacity as a freeman, he will do everything possible within his might to tell the story why Betty Mould Iddrisu will be the worst Chairperson ever to lead the NDC.
“I am convinced that NDC will be worst off with Betty Mould Iddrisu as chairperson of the NDC. We will speak to the delegates and again give them reasons why they should not vote for Betty Mould Iddrisu. Some of us will make sure that we elect our national executives who will inspire the party to victory in the 2020 general elections. Where we have reached is not try and error affair. Betty Mould is fit for a National Vice Chair not National Chairperson”, he noted.
He said although he led the campaign for Betty Mould Iddrisu to become the First Vice National Chairperson of the NDC, he will this time around openly campaigned against her and ensure that delegates in Ashanti Region does not support her bid for the chairperson position.
