Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan says he considered quitting football due to his recurrent injury situation.

According to the 31-year-old sometimes frustration sets in and it becomes difficult to mentally.

He also revealed that his wife supported his decision to draw the curtain on his football career.

I was a bit frustrated to the extent that the woman [wife] asked me to quit,” he told Accra-based Hot FM.

I nearly quit the game due to the recurrent injuries. But sometimes you have to be mentally tough to surmount the challenges,” he added.

Gyan noted, however, that he decided to fight and surmount the challenge. “One thing about football is about dedication. If you have the passion and are dedicated, you can rise above the storm no matter the difficulties.”

Asamoah Gyan has been battling injury since 2015, a development that made him lose a starting place at Shanghai SIPG, before joining Al Ahli Dubai last year summer.
