“You Don’t Have the Moral Right to Talk About Harassment; Bring Ken Ofori-Atta Home” – Abraham Koomson Tells NPP

TEMA, Ghana – May 16: Secretary General of the Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL), Abraham Koomson, has urged the Minority in Parliament of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to support efforts aimed at ensuring former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta returns to Ghana to account for his stewardship.

According to him, if the Minority truly believes in transparency and accountability, they should have no objection to the former minister returning home to respond to questions regarding his tenure, especially amid reports that he has been outside the country following the change in government.

Speaking on Ahotor FM’s Yepe Ahunu show on Saturday, May 16, Mr. Koomson stated that the NPP “does not have the moral right” to raise concerns about alleged harassment of their members, when Ken Ofori-Atta is on the run insisting that they must help convince him to return to Ghana to address issues related to his time in office.

He further argued that, in his view, successive governments in Ghana’s history including since the era of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah have seen former Finance Ministers remain in the country after leaving office, describing the current situation as unusual and concerning.

Mr. Koomson therefore maintained that if the Minority is genuinely committed to transparency, accountability, and national development, they should encourage Mr. Ofori-Atta to return and cooperate with any lawful processes or inquiries required of him.
