Commercial Transporters Operators have expressed disappointment in government’s eight years tax waiver moratorium for importation of electric vehicles for public transportation claiming, it will collapse their business.
Some private commercial operators have expressed disappointment in government announcement of the wrath of tax waiver moratorium for the importation of electric vehicles for public transportation.
They said the policy forms part of govt. strategy to implement incentives both monetary and none monetary to ensure the penetration of electric vehicles into the public’s into the transport system, and to facilitate access to green financing for commercial vehicles.
A statement by Ghana Commuter’s Drivers Association Charles Dansoa and Public Relations Officer of True Drivers Union Yaw Barimah said, the group expressed fears that the importation of electronic vehicles into the country will lead to stiff competition with private transport operators and thereby collapse their transport business.
The statement said the move will enable the government access climate financing and alleged corrupt tendencies. The Commercial Transporters Operators expressed their concerns on Radio Ghana and monitored by Ahotor FM news desk.
