A government delegation led by Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang on Tuesday paid a condolence visit to the family of the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, following the official announcement of her passing.
The visit, undertaken on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, who is currently out of the country on an urgent assignment, was to express the government’s sympathy and solidarity with the bereaved family during this period of national mourning.

Speaking after the visit, the Vice President described the late Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings as “a remarkable woman whose life and legacy have left an indelible mark on our nation.”
She urged Ghanaians to come together in unity and reflection, noting that the passing of such an iconic national figure should serve as a reminder of the values of dedication, service, and resilience that she championed.
“It is important that we remain solemn, united, and respectful as we mourn her passing. I pray for God’s strength and comfort for the entire family during this difficult time,”
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said.
The Vice President also called on Ghanaians to honour the memory of the late former First Lady by giving her a befitting farewell and continuing her legacy of advocacy for women’s empowerment and national development.

Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, founder of the 31st of December Women’s Movement, was a trailblazer in championing women’s rights and social transformation. She is remembered for her tireless contributions to Ghana’s political and social progress, as well as her unwavering commitment to justice and equality.
