The Communication Officer of the United Cadres Front (Tema) and a member of the Tema West Constituency, Chris Asher Jnr., has expressed concern over reports that the Member of Parliament for Tema West, James Enu, has failed to adequately engage constituency executives.
His comments follow concerns raised by the elected Chairman of the Tema West NDC Constituency, Mohammed Issah, about the MP’s relationship with the constituency executives.
Mr. Asher described the situation as worrying, warning that the apparent lack of engagement could weaken party unity, coordination and mobilisation efforts ahead of future elections.
He said the enthusiasm and commitment that had previously driven party members to work tirelessly towards winning the Tema West parliamentary seat appeared to be waning.
According to him, the absence of regular engagements and a coordinated strategy among party executives and members could undermine efforts to strengthen the party’s position in the constituency.
Mr. Asher said the United Cadres Front was concerned about the situation, particularly as the party gradually prepared for future internal elections and other political activities.
He cautioned that the MP’s approach to party administration and engagement could affect his political fortunes if the concerns were not addressed.
He stressed that constituency executives played a crucial role in mobilising party members, building grassroots support and promoting the MP’s political agenda within the constituency.
Mr. Asher further observed that political developments in Tema West suggested the possibility of a keenly contested NDC parliamentary primary, particularly if concerns about internal party relations persisted.
He alleged that the current MP appeared to be giving greater attention to a small group of individuals, described by some party members as a “cabal”, rather than engaging elected constituency executives.
He, however, reaffirmed the United Cadres Front’s commitment to protecting the NDC parliamentary seat in Tema West, stressing that the group remained dedicated to strengthening party unity and grassroots mobilisation.
Mr. Asher said the group would continue to support efforts to consolidate the party’s structures as it worked towards completing the regional and national executive processes.
He added that the United Cadres Front remained committed to working with party members and stakeholders to promote solidarity and improve the NDC’s prospects in the constituency.
