This NPP government looks unserious – Mustapha Gbande

The Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mustapha Gbande says the NPP government looks unserious with its style of governance.

Speaking on Ahotor 92.3 FM‘s morning show, Mr. Gbande blamed the woes of the economy on the Akufo-Addo-led government.

Citing the proposed import duties regulations as an example, he called for the implementation of a mechanism of import substitution.

“In theory regulating import duties is good but there should be in place a Mechanism of import substitution it shouldn’t be for regulations’ sake but since this government came to power they’ve not added even a salt factory so it will be difficult for them to talk about import duty regulations,” he told Citizen Kofi Owusu.

The NDC Deputy Secretary believes the suspension of the 15% VAT Electricity is just a tactic to whitewash the NPP party.

“They are trying to distance the party away from the mess of the government but they are forgetting the party gave birth to the government and they can’t run away from the mess of the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia-led government,” he said.

He said the NPP government wants to kill Ghanaians before they leave power with some of the taxes they want to introduce

Touching on the FreeSHS policy introduced by the NPP government, Mr. Gbande called on the government to cut down spending and use the money to solve the challenges facing the policy.

“Stakeholders of the Free Senior High School are complaining but a parliamentary candidate can share motors to delegates and we say we don’t have money why can’t we use the motor money to address the challenges of the FreeSHS?”

He said President Akufo-Addo looks like a noble person to be destroying the country.

“It is very sad to see an old man like President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo destroying Ghana, we all know old men usually rule with sense,” Mr. Gbande said.
