The development will suffer if we do not pay attention to local government elections – Dr Eric Osae

Governance Expert Dr. Eric Oduro Osae says if we do not make our local-level elections attractive, our development will suffer in various districts across the country.

According to him, local-level elections were originally planned to prepare leaders for this country, but the way we are managing its development will suffer if we don’t pay particular attention to it.

He said, we need to give more attention by transferring more resources to the districts for development and if possible, we need to give out incentives because elites are taking over in the assembly electoral areas and we need to let them know their usefulness.

Speaking on the aftermaths of the district assembly elections that were held on December 19, Dr Osae said we should work on the physical path after working on the election bid.

“The common fund that is due assembly needs to go and the appointment for MMDCEs must be people who can think outside the box” he added.

The governance expert indicates that, when the monies are disbursed what are the measures, we put in place to know that, the necessary amount is shared for development?

He called on the people of Ghana and the government to do the needful for better governance.
