Table Tennis Competition Held in Memory of Late Coach Asante in Bono Region

The Bono Regional Office of the National Sports Authority (NSA) organized a table tennis competition in honor of the late Anthony Kwaku Asante, a certified table tennis coach, who passed away on October 26, 2025.

The event was held at the Sunyani Senior High School premises and featured 50 young talented players from Bono, Bono East, Ahafo Eastern, and Ashanti regions.

The competition, which will be held annually, aims to unearth and build on table tennis talents nationwide. Bono Regional NSA Director, Kwame Bea Mensa, emphasized the importance of table tennis as a lucrative enterprise that can create job opportunities for the youth. He called for support from corporate bodies and stakeholders to promote the sport.

The late Coach Asante left a lasting legacy, and the event was a testament to his dedication to table tennis. Ghana Table Tennis Association Bono Regional Chairman, Manfred Nyarko, urged the government to invest more in table tennis, citing the lack of facilities as a major concern.

The Anthony Kwaku Asante Foundation, established to continue the late coach’s legacies, will partner with the NSA to organize future events.
