Stop drinking; it can give your child cancer from birth – Senior Nurse Advises Women

Senior Nurse at the Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipal Assembly (LEKMA) Hospital Juliana Johnson Owusu has advised women to avoid drinking and smoking and also avoid the use of many drugs especially those on self-medications.
She said women should avoid too much insertion of drugs to prevent childhood cancer.
She advised that regular checkups be done as well as taking only doctor’s advice on intake of drugs.
She mentioned that childhood cancer is been added to the NHIS so parent should not hesitate to treat their children early.

Lions International, District 418, Ghana, Accra Ultimate Lions Club, Accra Ultimate Leo Club in collaboration with Zone 3 and in partnership with Ahotor 92.3 FM present a month-long Childhood Cancer Advocacy and Awareness education on all programs of the frequency for September 2023.

Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is recognized every September by childhood cancer organizations around the world and the Lions International District 418 Ghana is championing the cause in Ghana.

As part of their social responsibilities, the organisations are of the view that children with cancer survive in high-income countries but in low-middle-income countries like Ghana, 2-4 out of 10 children survive cancer hence the need for awareness.
