SONA 2024: President Akufo Addo’s silence on victims of dam spillage disappointing – Okudzeto Ablakwa.

It appears that Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for the North Tongu constituency in the Volta region, expressed disappointment with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s silence on the victims of the Akosombo dam spillage during the State of the Nation Address in parliament. He mentioned that the spillage caused significant havoc and disaster in more than five constituencies, and they were expecting the president to address it and provide a way forward.

According to Ablakwa, nearly 40,000 Ghanaians have been displaced due to the spillage, with some victims currently living in conditions akin to refugees. He expressed frustration that the President chose not to acknowledge this issue in his speech, despite its severity and the efforts of MPs and citizens to assist those affected.

Ablakwa called on Ghanaians to consider voting out the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming December 7th elections, indicating dissatisfaction with the government’s response to the Akosombo dam spillage and its impact on the affected communities.
