SNAKE BITE CASES RECORDED AT TEMPORARY CLINICS FOR FLOOD VICTIMS

Snake bites have dominated cases reported at makeshift health centers serving flood Victims following the Akosombo and Kpong Dams spillage.


The Director General of Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr Patrick Kumah Aboagye after visiting some affected areas said the situation is under control. He said there is a need for systems strengthening.
Dr. Kumah Aboagye said there is no outbreak of any disease yet but they are planning against cholera diarrhea-related diseases and malaria.


The spillage has caused great havoc to the affected communities and the whole country at large. So far, 26000 people have been displaced in parts of the Volta, Eastern, and parts of Greater Accra regions.


According to GHS, currently apart from the snake bites, they have not seen anything significant from a few centers. In some places, it is quite difficult to hang mosquito nets but the regions are coming up with innovative ways to hang their nets so that they can prevent malaria infections.
