Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has expressed his admiration for President John Dramani Mahama while openly criticising some of the government’s appointees.
Speaking in an interview with Serwaa Amihere on GHOne TV, Shatta Wale said he supports President Mahama’s ideology but is disappointed with the performance of some people appointed to serve in his administration.
The outspoken musician also made a serious claim concerning his involvement in promotions during the World Cup.
According to Shatta Wale, the Ministry of Sports still owes him GH¢5 million for promotional work he undertook during the tournament.
“I love President John Dramani Mahama’s ideology but not his appointees. I’m still owed GH¢5 million by the Sports Ministry for my promotions during the World Cup.”
Shatta Wale’s comments have sparked conversations among entertainment followers, particularly over his claim of an outstanding payment from the Sports Ministry.
Known for his outspoken nature and willingness to speak about issues affecting Ghana’s creative industry, the “On God” hitmaker has on several occasions called for better treatment and recognition of Ghanaian artistes.
His latest remarks once again put the relationship between the entertainment industry and government institutions in the spotlight, with fans now awaiting further clarification from the Sports Ministry on the alleged GH¢5 million debt.
