Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale has pushed back against claims that he and fellow dancehall artiste Stonebwoy are bitter rivals, insisting that the tension between them has often been exaggerated by fans and the media.
Speaking during a TikTok Live session, the “On God” hitmaker explained that although he enjoys teasing Stonebwoy, there is no need for their exchanges to be interpreted as personal attacks or genuine hatred.
Shatta Wale noted that the two artistes have come a long way from their humble beginnings and now even live just minutes away from each other.
“He used to live in Ashaiman; I lived at Lartebiokorshie Zongo. I have really suffered, so if today Stonebwoy and I live in the same area, just two minutes away from each other, and you people are saying he’s my rival, no, don’t say that,” he said.
According to Shatta Wale, their playful back-and-forth should be seen as part of the entertainment surrounding their careers rather than evidence of a deep-seated feud.
“I just like teasing, but nobody should go personal. Let’s do things that will make the music healthy,” he added.
The dancehall heavyweight also reflected on the struggles both artistes faced in their early years and urged the public to appreciate their achievements and the impact they have made on Ghanaian music.
His comments appear to signal a desire for a healthier relationship between the two dancehall giants, while encouraging fans to focus on their music rather than fueling unnecessary rivalry.
