Sege, Ada and its environs needs peace — Christian Corleytey Otuteye

The local economy of the people of Sege and Ada some communities along the coast stretching from Dansoman to Dowenya is the under threat. The salt which served as the source of mining for living and livelihood is been taken over by ElectroChem Ghana limited-Ghana. A private salt mining company which is backed by the government to manage the local salt mining has lead to a lot of community clash and agitation for ownership of the concession and control for the past years.

The Member of Parliament for Sege Constituency Hon. Christian Corleytey Otuteye, discloses this on Adekyee Mu Nsem morning show on Ahotor 92.3 FM hosted by Citizen Kofi Owusu in Accra.

Recently clash between the police providing security at the salt mining site of the company in a feud allegedly for trespassing into the concession of ElectroChem Ghana limited has resulted into lost of live.

According to the Member of Parliament for Sege Christian Corleytey Otuteye said the situation is getting worsen largely due to the lack of security intelligence, and leadership, coupled with the fact that, perpetrators of the heinous crimes knows, they will not be investigated, nor punished.

He is of the view that, the attitude of the Ghana Police in all these crimes, abhors and disdainful, a worrying situation which must be taken up by the state with keen interest and help the people of the area resolve the needless killings, brutalities, and mayhem at various communities within the Sege-Ada Districts.

Few weeks after the Quiet One Year Memorial Remembrance of the Kablevu shootings, and its brutalities, which occurred on 8th September, 2022, we have woken up this week, to other horrific acts of gunning down of people, and cutlass wounds on others at Toflokpo Salom, a community within the same Sege community is very unfortunate. And therefore called on the police to investigate the case and brought the perpetrators to book.
