The Libyan Football Federation has released a statement on the resignation of Aliou Cissé, confirming his departure was linked to unpaid salaries and financial delays.
According to the LFF, the exit was expected due to outstanding dues, with the federation blaming delays in government fund disbursement and administrative issues, including payments stuck within state financial institutions.
The federation claims part of the agreed funding was released, allowing them to cover several months of salaries for Cissé and his technical staff, while insisting efforts were made to resolve the situation.
They also praised Cissé’s impact, noting only one defeat during his tenure, but acknowledged that under FIFA regulations, unpaid wages give coaches the right to terminate contracts.
The LFF is now urging stronger coordination between state bodies to prevent similar disruptions in future.
